Toshio Suda, 95 years, died Feb. 7th
U. S. Army, served in the 100th Regiment then transferred to the 442nd infantry division, serving as a medic in Italy. Toshio was an accomplished writer, and published several poems in the tanka style and founded the Chicago Tanka club.
Beloved husband of the late Toyo.
Loving father of Priscilla (Jeff) Taylor, Richard (Ann Marie) Suda and Robert (Catherine) Suda.
Devoted grandfather of Brent, Chad and Troy Taylor and Matthew (Meghan), David (Megan), and Lindsay Suda and
great grandfather of Cayden and Elliot.

Toshio Suda, 95, departed life quietly on February 7, 2010. Born in Seattle on December 18, 1914, he moved to Japan at the age of five. He was educated there and after earning a teaching degree there taught at a local school for a short period of time. He was very proud of his expertise in judo, earning a black belt while in Japan. He returned to San Francisco, where he taught school before he was drafted in to the U. S. Army, first serving in the 100th Regiment then transferred to the famous “Go For Broke” 442nd infantry division, serving as a medic in Italy.

He was married for 60 years to his beloved wife Toyo, who preceded him in death. They made their home in Des Plaines where he was a writer for Chicago Shimpo newspaper, and was employed at the First Congregational Church for many years. Toshio was an accomplished writer, and published several poems in the tanka style and founded the Chicago Tanka club. He is survived by daughter Priscilla Taylor, sons Richard and Robert Suda, six grandchildren, Brent, Chad and Troy Taylor, and Matthew, David and Lindsay Suda and two great grandchildren, Cayden and Elliot Suda.
