Mary Haruye Okazaki nee Tahara
Life slipped away peacefully from Mary Haruye Okazaki, nee Tahara, the morning of August 25, 2018, with her sons at her bedside, after a brief illness. Born on May 28, 1917, in Seattle, Washington, the eldest of the five children of the late Harukichi and the late Masaye Tahara, she was a beloved and loving wife and mother, married to her husband Seiji Okazaki for 56 years until his passing in 2008. She was preceded in death by son Wayne Geoffrey Okazaki, and is survived by sons Glenn Davis Okazaki and Kevin Bruce (Sharon Akiko Kikuta) Okazaki, granddaughters Leanne Chiharu Okazaki and Lindsay Akemi (Kyle Hokit) Szeto, sister Miyeko Dorothy (the late Dr. Yoshio) Handa, and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary’s memory to the Lakeside Church of Chicago (Capital Fund). Memorial service at 3:00 pm preceded by visitation at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Lakeview Funeral Home, 1458 W. Belmont Ave., Chicago, IL 60657.
