Obituary

Perla P. Carandang was born on October 2, 1948 in the Philippines. In the 1970's, she arrived in the United States of America to work as a Medical Technologist. She has worked at Grant Hospital, Ravenswood Hospital, Cook County Hospital and over 35 years at Children's Memorial Hospital / Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. Perla enjoyed watching cooking channels and eating out at restaurants. In fact, she would travel to other countries for the culinary experience. Before her untimely death, she was planning to explore a list of food destinations. As a northsider, she cheered on Chicago sports team: Cubs, Bears, Blackhawks and Bulls. With her daughter's influence, she supported the New England Patriots.

She is survived by her only child, Lesly, sisters , Emma and Shierly, and brothers Alex, Romulo, Zaldy, Samuel, and Manolo. Perla has a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. She was a devoted daughter, sister and mother with a generous heart.

Perla P. Carandang tragically passed away Wednesday morning February 14, 2018 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 from 4 to 9 PM at Lakeview Funeral Home, 1458 W. Belmont Avenue, Chicago, IL 60657. A funeral mass will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday at St. Vincent de Paul Church, 1010 W. Webster Avenue, Chicago, IL 60614. Interment at Rosehill Cemetery.
