Obituary

James Anthony Erskine, age 72, passed away peacefully and surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday morning, June 29, 2016, in Chicago. Jim was born in 1943 in Hammond, Indiana, to Alfred and Marsha Erskine. He was the second of their six children. Jim lived in Davenport, Iowa, as a child and Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, as a high schooler, graduating from Wauwatosa East High School in 1961. He served honorably in the United States Army having been stationed in Okinawa, Japan. Jim received a bachelor's degree from Indiana University in Bloomington and a master's degree in taxation from Depaul University in Chicago--the city that became his home. Jim began his career at Arthur Andersen and then continued to work as an accountant and business advisor until his last days. Jim was the loving father of one son and two step-daughters. He lived a joyful life dedicated to his family and many friends. He was intelligent, kind, young at heart, and an impassioned conversationalist. An avid sports fan and active player in his younger years, he ran the Chicago marathon, enjoyed many outdoor adventures, and was the past President of the Adventurers Club of Chicago. Jim is preceded in death by his mother and father. He is survived by his son Andrew, his daughter-in-law Rochelle, his stepdaughters Joanna and Olivia, their mother Pamela, his brothers Bud and Steve, his sisters Laury, Kathleen, and Elizabeth, his many nieces and nephews, and his countless friends. A memorial reception will be held Thursday, July 7, 2016, from 5:00pm until 9:00pm, with a religious service and military honors beginning at 7:30pm, at Lakeview Funeral Home, 1458 W.
