John Terada (1938 – 2013)

John Masao Terada, 75, of Elk Grove Village, Illinois passed away on Saturday, September 28, 2013 in his sleep after a difficult battle with ALS. Upon retiring from machine tool import\export consulting, John occupied his time by driving a special needs school bus, he often told stories of how much he enjoyed driving the children to school and making them smile and laugh. Although he did not live long enough to see his beloved Cubs win the big one, he was forever the optimist. John’s love for the game of golf was unparalleled. He was a starter at Highland Woods Golf Club, always stating the true benefit of working was being able to play as much golf as possible. John was always willing to help friends and family, he will be missed by everyone that knew him.

He is survived by his wife Masako and children; George (Kathleen) and Brent (Rachelle), grandchildren: Shree, Abby, Sydney, Jessie, Riley and Max; as well as sisters May, June and Ruth and brothers Henry and Shigeo. He is preceded in death by his parents Rihachi and Maru Tanaka Terada, and his late brother Edwin.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 12, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Lakeview Funeral Home (1458 W Belmont Ave Chicago, IL 60657). Burial Services will also be on Saturday beginning at 2:00 PM at Montrose Cemetery (5400 N. Pulaski Road Chicago, IL 60630). Prior to his death, John expressed his desire to have contributions made to the First Tee Program in lieu of flowers.
