Misao "Pat" Shiratsuki, age 93 died July 3, 2012 in Walnut Creek, CA.
She survived her father and mother Mohei and Ichiyo Shiratsuki, brothers Satoru and Tsutomu and sisters
Yoshiye and Sumiko. She is survived by cousins in California, Montana, Idaho, Nevada Wisconsin and Washington, D.C..

Misao was born on a farm in Salinas, CA. She attended Buena Vista Grammar School, a one room
school house, graduated from Salinas Union High School and attended Salinas Junior College.
She passed the California Civil Service Exam and worked for the state of California in Sacramento
until she was interned like many Japanese Americans during World War II. She joined her family in Heart
Mountain, Wyoming.

During the war she went to Bloomington, IL and then Chicago. She worked as a secretary and
eventually became an office manager for a group of doctors, where she was given her nickname "Pat".
She was active in the Chicago Japanese American community through service and philanthropic donations.

Memorials were previously held in California and Chicago. In lieu of flowers memorials to your favorite
charity can be given.
